I like to relax when I come home from work, maybe drink a few beers or play some jai lai...you know, average American stuff. But when I flipped on PTI tonight, I was stunned and dismayed to see two of the planet's most unlikable sports media personalities on the same program: Dan LeBatard and making his PTI debut, Dan Shaughnessy.

You probably have heard of LeBatard, the Miami-based sportswriter/radio host that talks more about his sweating and obvious understanding that others (like Jay Bilas) dislike him with a passion. He's outwardly annoying in all senses of the word, but when you pair him up with Shaughnessy, it's like having to choose between a punch and a kick in the groin. Both are terrible and there's no positive outcome that can possibly happen.

Who is Dan Shaughnessy, true believer? He is the long-time Boston Globe columnist/Red Sox and Celtics beat writer who has authored numerous books and is generally reviled in Boston sports circles. While he has written most negatively about Boston sports for the past two decades, his legacy was essentially cemented by former Sox player and resident dinosaur hater Carl Everett. Everett referred to Shaughnessy as the 'curly-haired boyfriend' in a tirade once and it just kinda stuck...CHB for short. Curt Schilling also refers to Shaughnessy as the CHB in his various blog manifestos.

Today's show was expectedly below average and lacked the quality you have with other guest hosts (J.A. Adande, Bob Ryan, etc.). When you have the flagship show that leads into the 6 pm SportsCenter, it's unfathomable they give the reigns to these two jokers. You're telling me with all of the talent they have on ESPN for anchors, analysts and others that these are the two guys they put in the starters' chairs?

Need proof they know how despised they are? Check out this video. Pardon the quality...

BallHype: hype it up!

One small correction: it was Carl Everett, not Curt Schilling, who came up with "curly-haired boyfriend."

Carl's one lasting contribution to Red Sox baseball.

They ruled! They were so out of their element it was funny. During odds-makes when Shaughnessy forgot to give a number, AWESOME! And watching Realli at the end doing errors and omissions was classic. "No errors per se, but we did get flattering words about OJ and a unabomber mention." or something like that.

Then the best part! Right in the middle of the big finish Shaughnessy missed a cue and LeBetard had to point this out. When LeBetard knows what's going on you have reached a point of comedy gold.

Let them host forever, or until Shaughnessy gets comfortable in the format. Must see TV!

They were making fun of themselves. Not bad at all.
